The street food extravaganza has not ended, even though I haven't posted any pictures of our adventures on here in soooo long. We are over halfway through the book now. In fact there's only 56 recipes to go. I had to make a trip to Jungle Jim's in Cincinnati to get a lot of the ingredients. So now my cabinets are stocked with lots of food, and I feel like I have to hurry up and cook. I think I got a little overboard and crazy this week because we made at least 5 recipes in the last 3 days. Unfortantely, some of these last ones have been a little blah...probably partially because of how I made them. I try, but after all I'm still a bit of a clueless American trying to cook all these international dishes.
This was pretty good. It's a Middle Eastern dish with spinach, pinenuts, sumac (super hard to find here!), onions, and olive oil. It's supposed to be baked or fried into a flaky pastry. My roommate informed me after we got home from the grocery store that we probably should have gotten wonton wrappers instead of these silly crescent rolls that are clearly not even close to what should really be used. But at least it tasted good!
Morroccan avacado drink...I thought it was not too bad. My roommate said, "No one should ever eat an avacado like that."
